Story:
To become an expert Shinobi of Huoshangakure, there is a set of survival training exercises that are done. Each is held in its own specific part of the island chain and its various environments. It is a full-proof way of getting the ninja used to anything the islands can throw at them.

Stage Six: The Ascension into Hell

Mount Death, the largest volcano in the world at over a mile and a half in height. It constantly erupts, causing the thick plume of smoke that blots out the sun in all the Land of Blazes and causes the constant rain of ash. The final test to prove one is a true master of the volcano is to retrieve a single flag located halfway up the mountain. Even attempting this is a suicide mission with lava rivers half a mile wide that flow in every direction along with constant earth quakes from the eruptions.
