This fight will be a battle between Ai Takahashi and Rohim Edrick. Both characters will be at the exact condition they are in outside of this battle. Meaning, ranks are normal, stats are normal, jutsu are normal, and weapons are normal as they would have been for both involved characters IC. This battle is for training purposes only, as I will be giving Ai battle advice within every post.

The battle arena is a large ring made of dirt, with about a 100yard radius. There is a large 20 ft. tall boulder in the middle, and it is raining. The sides of the arena are 50ft tall, cement walls.

The battle will begin with the next post.

I stood on one end of the open dirt arena perfectly motionless. I was dressed in my ANBU attire, outfitted in a black compression bodysuit that allowed for breatheable, full body motion. Today I was training a female shinobi from a village, because the Tsurukage sent me a letter asking me to prepare her for the Chuunin Exams that were scheduled for the near future. I knew I was ranks above her, but still, maybe my speed now would help her tolerate speed when it counts. She stood on the opposite side of the boulder in the middle of the arena, out of my eyesight. With my eyes closed, I turned on the Compass in order to feel her presence in the air around me. I felt power jolt into my muscles. The bloodflow to my heart increased dramatically, ready to pump my muscles at full capacity. Using the compass that I had learned from my Shiokage not terribly long ago, I had unlocked my full potential. The only thing waiting in my line of training would be to become an S-ranked ninja, ready for anything.

I unsheathed my sword, and stuck it into the ground at my feet. I was not trying to seriously injure my opponent here today, a blade would only bring grief. Grant it, my hands were even more deadly, but at least I could control just how deadly. I began charging chakra into my body to start the fight off with a basic jutsu, just to see where she was on how she decided to evade attacks. I also took a few steps to the left, just so she could see me.

Spoiler:

(Battle Tips: You're going to start every fight with a description of your surroundings and yourself. You have to let your opponent know what you're wearing, and what you're using in battle. For example, say when you withdraw a new weapon, or when you sheathe a new one. Also talk about what you're dressed in, because every combatant deserves to know exactly what they can work with. Describe your surroundings. The rock in the middle of the map, the dirt at your feet, the walls on the outside. This is best used so if you use anything in the battlefield to your advantage, you can always refer back to the descriptive post to relieve any confusion. Also, not every opponent is going to be as nice to you as me. They probably won't let you know that they're about to use a "basic jutsu," or leave out any weapons to as to not hurt you. Never take your opponent as a fool. Also, when you use any abilites of you Kekkei Genkai, summons, Jutsu, or other chakra-triggered abilities, you must put what you used in a spoiler after your post like I did. Now, always prepare an attack with the first post. Even if in the next post the opponent doesn't make a move on you, it's always nice to be prepared. It's also nice to look over your opponent's clan and jutsu BEFORE the battle starts so as to guess strategies and discover ways to retaliate. I'm used to this concept, because I'm an Mixed Martial Artist in real life, and I have been for 3 years. I constantly replay any attack an opponent might throw at me, and figure out how to counter it, even when I'm not in a fighting situation. Also, use what you're comfortable with in battle. Like I said, I'm an MMA fighter, I'm used to martial arts, therefore I fight with Taijutsu on both my characters. You will always be best with what you're comforable with. Alright, your turn. Use these tips, and make the first move in your post.)

Ai was anxious. She knew this was just a training battle, but it was her first since the academy. She was ready to show what she could do. As she looked around the arena one only one thing was bothering her, she was more comfortable with lots of cover. The only thing that she could use to conceal her at all was the 20 ft rock in the middle of the ring. She made a quick check of her equipment: her bow was freshly strung and her quiver had a full load of 15 arrows strapped to her back; her clothes were loose to allow for quick moment, but she suddenly wished she had worn something a bit more protective.

Her opponent, who she knew little about, was on the other side of the rock. At least she was out of sight for the moment. She was counting on her ability to fight from a distance to give her the advantage and hoped it would be enough.

First things first, she thought, I need more cover.

As she began to weave her hand signs she knew that her ability to see her opponent would also be affected, but at the least it would give her some time to formulate a better plan.

With my eyes closed yet, I felt the air around me, searching for signs of her next movement. She was kind of far away to reach with my senses alone, so I decided I needed to close the distance between us just a little bit. I charged forward in a dead sprint, with my eyes closed all the while, straight for the boulder. With my reflexes and speed being heightened to that of a rank and a half above a Legendary (SS) Ranked ninja, to an untrained eye of a Genin, I appeared to be teleporting from point A to point B. When I reached the rock, I hurdled myself onto the top of the rock, and stood still. My eyes were still closed, and I stopped doing handseals. I thought about my battle strategy on the quick run over. If this was indeed training, perhaps it was too early for jutsu. Instead I would show her some basic combat movements. I awaited on the boulder for her first move. I did not need my eyes to see my surroundings, as I felt the air bouncing off every grain of dirt in the area. The wind flowed through my green hair, sending a chill to my ears and down my spine. I awaited her movement.

(Battle Tips: Always have a backup plan. If the opponent decides to make a drastic change in their stratagem, you should always be ready to change yours too, or perhaps just adapt your current one to combat theirs.)

Just as she finished weaving her hand signs, she was startled as her opponent seemingly appeared out of nowhere on top of the rock.

He's quick, she thought. This is going to be harder than I thought.

As mist began to fill the area, obscuring her opponent from her view, she stepped back into it, determining to change her position within the fog as often as possible so that she would be that much harder to find.

As she moved deeper into the cloud, she began to weave more hand signs, preparing for her next move.

I grinned as I realized that mist was forming around the young woman. "Clever," I thought to myself. It was a decent attempt at obscuring my vision, making her harder to find. This would help if I used my vision at all. The mist that now surrounded her was made of denser air combined with water, clearly much more definable through my "sixth sense" as compared to normal air. Her body was lit up like a beacon throughout the mist. My eyes were still closed, but I felt her every movement. I wanted to keep them shut until I needed them to react. For now, however, all I needed to do was feel. An idea hit me just then as she walked further away from me into the mist. She was getting further away, and my sensing grew weaker, as it always does with more distance. But what if the distance didn't matter? I could probably pull this off then get back to this boulder within a few seconds, because she wasn't too far away yet. I agreed with this new idea, and readied myself in a pouncing position. I drew a kunai from my belt into my right hand, wielding it with the blade pointing down away from my hand. I smirked, eyes still closed, and lept forward off of the rock. I ran into the mist in the blink of an eye, my speed unmatched by most in this world, save my teacher and one other. I spotted her using my Compass, and got behind her before she could see my in the mist, I stood about a five feet away from her, motionless, knees bent and shoulderwidth apart. I knew she was there, but I could see clearly through the mist. An un-aided eye couldn't see 6 inches forward, let alone these five feet. But, five feet was enough distance for me to still cover in a flash, so it was fine. I waited for her to realize where I was, that I was so close.

Ai smiled to herself as she finished her hand signs. She kept her eyes in the direction of the rock, even though she could no longer see it in the mist. In a moment, she would emerge from the mist and begin the offensive.

"Water Style: Water Clone Jutsu", she whispered so as not to give away her position.

The mist around her quickly coalesced into two other exact copies of her.

The three clones began to run in the direction of the rock, splitting up as they ran. As they ran they all began weaving more signs.

This might be over quicker than I thought, she said to herself as she ran.

I chuckled to myself as I realized what she was doing. This girl was brilliant. If I didn't have the abilities that I had, I guarantee she would have fooled me here. She had hidden back into the mist to hide herself, then she created clones, and ran out of the mist. Any normal person would have no idea which was which. It was genius! But.. unfortunately for her, I had the Compass, and had her locked on. She had created clones out of water. The air around them flowed against the water differently than it did against her skin. I still had her, and I had been following her quietly as she ran forward to the rock. With a burst of my speed, I lept forward silently at her calves. With my kunai, I aimed for a slight knick of a cut on her left calf. With my speed and the mist, it would be nigh impossible to see, let alone dodge. After I was sure I would've made the hit and drawn just a trickle of blood, I bounced backwards and ran backwards into the mist once again, all the way to the edge of the arena behind her in about 3 seconds.

She had just finished weaving her signs when she felt it. The pain of the cut wasn't too bad, but it startled her enough that she lost her balance and fell forward. She was able to tuck her body into a roll to alleviate some of the damage. As she glanced down at her calf and examined the trickle of blood coming from the cut, a frightening thought came to her.

He can see me! Her mind raced with possibilities of how. It had to be a jutsu of some kind, but which kind exactly. Could he read her chakra signature? Was he immune to the mist screen somehow? These thoughts led to even more questions: Did he get lucky by cutting her, or could he tell the clones from her?

Regardless, what was clear was that the mist was doing nothing for her. Somehow, however it was, he knew where she was.

Meanwhile, the clones were still running, not knowing what had happened. They finished their signs and the lightning balls appeared in their palms. They leapt with full force into the air from either side of the 20ft rock, the lightning balls held in their outstretched palms. By the time they realized that there was no one at the top of rock it was too late. Both clones collided together, each one dispersing the other.

As the two clones were destroyed, their memories and thoughts came flooding back to Ai. Even though they had jumped out of the mist, they had still not seen the target. Her plan was backfiring and the mist was now more of a hinderance to her than her enemy.

She jumped back to her feet, trying to regroup as she once again started weaving hand signs. This technique would be risky to try, but she needed to gamble.

By the time I got to the wall, I felt it activate from the bloodshed. I was now locked onto her, no matter what she did. My eyes closed, she was as bright as day to me. Not only could I find her using the wind currents around her body, but now my mind was locked on to her chakra signature, making escape impossible. As the mist began to dissipate, I was on the edge of the arena against the wall, standing still with my arms crossed and my eyes closed. With a smirk still on my face, I awaited her next move.

The mist was beginning to dissipate and more and more of the arena was becoming visible. Another moment and it would be gone altogether. Still, her opponent remained unseen at this point. The fact that he hadn't attacked concerned her, but apparently her gamble had worked. She had stood exposed while prepping her next move. She finished the hand signs as her next steps began to formulate in her head.
First, she needed distance. This guy was quick, but any amount of distance she could create would give her that much more time to react.

"Wind Release: Stream"

She inhaled as deeply as she could, infusing her breath with chakra. Looking down toward the ground she exhaled quickly. The force of the wind coming from her mouth lifted her into the air, above the rock and out of the mist 35 feet into the air.

The mist continued to dissipate as she hung in the air, scanning the arena with her eyes trying to find the location of her opponent.

As I stood still, locked onto Ai with my closed eyes, I started to realize what she was trying to do. She was trying to get more distance on me, and she was trying to find me. It appears that she did not indeed see me when I cut her leg, but she definitely felt it or she wouldn't be flying into the air looking for me. Ah well, I suppose it's best to take the time to search for someone when they can't get to you. See, I could choose to sprint for her, because I'd be able to cover the ground to reach her in a matter of a couple seconds, but she was in the air. And unfortunately, I can't fly. So in hindsight, that would be a terrible idea. Instead I just decided to wait here more for her next move. I was curious as to what she would do when she found me. I stood motionless, feeling the air, with my eyes closed.

As the last bit of the mist evaporated, Ai finally caught glimpse of the man who had cut her ankle. He was standing back against the wall of the arena, arms crossed with a smirk on his face. Ai was confused by his appearance though. She couldn't be sure at first but, it looked like his eyes were closed! Why were his eyes closed? And why wasn't he attacking? Ideas flashed through her mind almost quicker than she could follow: he's gathering chakra for a large attack; he can't reach her; he's so confident in his ability that he's just waiting for Ai to approach him.

Any of those could be true, she thought.

So far, she had apparently been able to buy the time she needed. She couldn't stay up here forever but she needed just another moment before her next big move. Ai turned her head, which changed the direction of the air from her mouth pushing her further back from her opponent and now nearing the other edge of the arena.

Just keep standing there with that smirk, she thought. We'll see who's smirking in a moment

She changed her direction in the air, sending herself to the opposite end of the arena and further away from me. I was still waiting for her to utilize her long distance away from me, because I could not figure out exactly how she would use it. Was she a long-ranged specialist? Or was she just going to throw a jutsu at me? Either way, I remained in my spot. Not moving. Waiting.

Ai let the chakra infused air coming from her mouth end and she began descending to the ground. As she did, she made sure to position herself so that the 20 ft rock was to her back as she fell.

She began weaving hand signs as she fell. She would need to be ready as soon as she hit the ground.
