The Voice of Architecture: Stage One [Mission]

The sun was high, signaling the world that it was about noon. Today the sun was particularly hot, as the fumes from the ground slowly rose up, and the heat created a very stuffy feeling. The animals stayed in the shade, did not even dare to venture out to quench their dry and aching thirsts. The sound of steps crushing against soft grass was heard, and the animals could see a human walking towards them. What possessed this crazed being to walk in this infernal weather? And why in all black? The animals did not understand, but from the shadows they watched.

Kibou wiped his brow of sweat, as he slowly made his way to an open field. In his sweaty hands was a damp scroll, damp most likely from his own sweat. The scroll had the kage's official seal. No doubt, Kibou was out here because of a mission. The wind seemed to laugh at his misfortune by not blowing and cooling the area. As Kibou made his way to an open field, he took out a seed from his pocket. The seed was a rich brown with white stripes encircling the body. Kibou knelt down and began to dig a small hole, and once he reached cool soil he placed the seed in and covered it up. He then stood up, and looked at the seed.

Singing to a seed...

We go and we fly
We reach towards the sky
We spread out thick branches
We grow our thick floras
For the world and the people to see


As the man began to sing the animals winced, his voice not soft or melodious, but his purpose was strange. Why would he sing, in this blazing heat? Those animals close to him swore they saw something poke out of the ground where he had put the seed. But no, impossible. The heat was getting to them.

We shall fulfill our dreams
We shall grow towards the clouds
We shall mature with sunbeams
The ground we will enshroud
For our size and our stature will stand beautifully


The animals jumped back as the ground was torn by a huge mature tree. The tree was huge, as it reached towards the sky, already thick with wood and age. The branches on the tree soon widened, covering the entire area with cool shade. Yet the human did not stop there.

We have grown with gusto
We have grown with strength
But let us diminish for ammo
Let us be on the same wavelength
For our kage demands a shed.


The huge tree then began to compact its self, and slowly shrink in size while getting wider, the branches delving into it, almost like the tree was liquid yet it still had its very solid form. Now every animal was on end, watching to see what would happen next.

Though the heavens may beckon
And the winds call
We must change for the bowmen
When war falls
On this lovely and beautiful shed.


The mighty tree, once towering to the sky, was forced to become a shed. The shed was about fifteen feet high, its windows made of the thick leaves that once dawned the mighty tree. The walls were about five feet thick. From the outside it looked sturdy, and ready. The animals slowly walked out of the shade, to examine this odd building.

Kibou walked in, to make sure he had done it right. There were empty wooden weapon racks and shelves, and the floor had two levels. Yet the ground was still made from the soft grass, which shouldn't have mattered. This was only for weapons. As the heat had finally gotten to Kibou he sat near the wall and shut his eyes, ready to escape to the land of dreams. And, as he would find out when he woke up, the animals also escaped to the land of dreams in this shed.
